These are some shots from the Alexandria High School baseball game last evening. Action shots are rare for me, so I thought I’d give it a try. My first mistake was not checking my batteries--my Sony with the 55-210 was dead, so all these shots are from my canon with an 18-55. And, I should have used a faster shutter speed. Live and learn.

Very good John, for what you had. Love the ball coming at the battery. The blur shows the action.

Definitely something different for you, but I think these are well done. You caught the action just fine. The well maintained field and colorful uniforms are a bonus.

...pitcher still in follow through...batter mid swing...ball blazing through the air...wow!

Thanks. The coach’s son was a former Mr. Baseball in Indiana and played in the majors and minors for a number of years; hence, the coach takes great pride in his field and does most of the work tending it himself. It’s one of the nicest high school fields around, nicer than some of the minor league parks.

Thanks, Carol. Maybe I’ll try a girls’ softball game next, and a volleyball game. That’s the extent of my fall hs sports interests.

I generally keep my cameras in the truck so I’ll have them with me all the time. Some fool (that’s me) forgot to switch the Sony off, hence the dead battery.
