Not sure if this belongs here or in the General Chit-chat section. Anyway, my wife and I will be spending 4 nights this summer in Pullman Washington. Paluse has always been on my bucket list and we aren't getting any younger! Anyway, I would appreciate tips, photo spots, etc. Yeah, I am doing google searches etc, but it's always good to get real world tips from people that's been there, done that, and here's what I discovered, etc.

Anybody live in the Palouse area?

I have spent many days in the Palouse on photo assignments over the years.

Be sure to go to Steptoe Butte for Scenic views of the Palouse. The gate is closed during night hours. One of my favorite drives is on Johnson Road which is south of Pullman.

You might want to drive over to Moscow , Idaho which in nearby on the Idaho side.

I would Google the Palouse to look for general scenes.

I had a wonderful time in the Palouse in summer 2019 (https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-603450-1.html). Get the Photograph America Newsletter Issue 54. It provides a description of the area. In the summer the two colleges nearby are out of session and either Pullman or Moscow has accommodations. The thread I included shows the view from Steptoe Butte. The falls and other attractions are worth seeing, but just the back roads with the sweep of the wheat is worth the trip.

Go to the waterfall on the river. It's not huge, but it is very tall. Drive the back roads - nearly any road. Views from Steptoe Butte are marvelous in any direction. I caught morning light there, but evening light would be beautiful also. Driving to and from I followed beautiful rivers. Keep your eyes open while driving. I caught a moose family out the corner of my eye!

There used to be a map of all the barns, trees, etc. Try the chamber of commerce. They may still have some.

Be sure to check out Palouse Falls State Park. Very scenic in the late afternoon light.

I think southeast of Pullman/Moscow the Clearwater River would be worth the drive.
