Possum Spider

This was odd. I was working in the garage yesterday, and I saw a spider on its back, curled up into a ball. I figured it was dead. I gave it a push with a screwdriver - no reaction. A few seconds later, it got up and walked away. Taking a nap? Playing possum?

It has a night job and sleeps during the day.

It may have been getting ready to shed its exoskeleton and you interrupted I owned a couple of tarantulas during the time I volunteered at the National Zoo's Invertebrate Exhibit. It's fascinating to watch the process!
