Yes Mike, it is sad the eagle is in a cage. Many rescue animals would not survive if released back into the wild.
Hopefully it's temporary and the eagle will be let go after it is well.
Very nicely done, Mike. He doesn’t look like a happy camper.
Wow - that can't be a happy eagle. Hopefully that isn't a life sentence in that cage.
I appreciate those thumbs up, Jack!
I understand your dilemma. There is an eagle at the Phoenix zoo that has been injured. I don't know what his injury is, but he has been in the same cage for years. Instead of soaring over miles of territory, he sits in once place all day, every day. Sometimes I wonder if he'd rather not be than to be there, like that. I've never been sure that life at all cost was the best answer.

Hopefully temporary......the bird did look unhappy!
Nicely taken, UTMike. It releases a lot of emotions without knowing the backstory. We have a center here that cares for ill or injured birds of prey. Those that can be released after care and treatment are. Those that have little chance of survival in the wild are cared for and they are also used as way of introducing the beauty of these birds to the public as ambassadors.
More importantly the caretakers educate the visitors about how important it is to protect these birds from careless or wanton harm as well as the need to preserve the habitat. The health of these birds is an indicator of what we are doing to our own environment....much like the ol' canary in the coal mine adage.
The eagle is unable to survive according to the people at the facility.
Nice shot Mike. “Kids in cages!”

All the bird sanctuaries I have visited the people taking care of the birds have been very caring and have educational visits for the public. I sometimes think if the alternative would be better for the birds too for the ones that cannot be released. Would not like to be the person to make that call.
At least he was being protected

Terrible conditions, it seems but perhaps necessary. Thanx for sharing, I think...
