This is a view from one of the many, many veranda's at the Biltmore Mansion. They overlook the vast mansion estate and the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance. Of course when your home sits on the 87,000 acres that you own there's a lot to see. It rained off and on all morning with a bit of overcast sky later in the afternoon. Not the best conditions for walking around yet great having a camera.

Absolutely beautiful!

Very nice, sippy. It's always a great idea to have a camera along.

Thanks, I always keep my camera close in the event of that "special moment". I've given up on waiting for Bigfoot and I doubt that a spaceship will land in our yard however I am still holding out for the real Elvis to appear.

I have been to the Biltmore and your pictures are stunning. Did you read the book about the building of the mansion and the grounds?

Thanks for viewing and for the reply. There's a area in one of the cellars that has the history of the Mansion with photos of the building in progress. OH MY, what a different time that was and there was no heavy equipment like we have today. Just man and animal power of the day. Building the railroad to get resources to the town was a major feat as well. It was truly the gilded age of building at its finest.

Of course when you have 150,000 acres to get resources from it makes it more convenient....as does being one of the wealthiest people in America.

A really fine shot of that veranda. I visited there in the 1970s.
