Texture
► Texture refers to the surface quality of an object.
► It can be a pattern like textile or a roof, colored surface without a specific motive
► Texture can be from a sharply focused surface or utterly out of focus, it does not really matter.
► Texture can be entirely made up by creating it in Post Processing.
In the digital world texture can be behind a subject, in front of integrated onto the subject.
When adding texture to an image you need to know about:
► Creating a composite (you already know how but are just not aware of it)
► Layers how they work, their order and their interaction with each other
► Layer styles.

You are correct. I am thinking about digital/virtual texture, not physical as in prints. I changed the title and description in order to narrow the thread purpose.
