I am glad you see what I was concerned about. Never have I ever read a waiver of rights this outrageous. I like submitting to UHH but this killed that.

Fotoartist, was this just something you happened to find or was there an issue which brought it to your attention?

Have to agree for the pro/semi-pro or wannabe. Your images are yours. You can/should agree to a one time use license without the right to your images being used for commercial use or reproduction.

Otherwise, amateurs who show their best efforts will not be at risk because they risk nothing. The more advanced photographers and working pros will not post work that no longer remains their property.

For your pic, congrats. I often see and try to do a yin-yang, birth-death, cycle of life in my images. All thumbs up.

Brought to my attention from a post yesterday by a Hogger from Australia, Wide2Tele. This confiscatory release was there all the time in the agreement and not in the fine print. I have to start reading those agreements.

Thanks for commenting. I agree with you on all your points. And I would be willing to share rights to a degree but not foolishly give them up completely for nothing.

Hmmm.... Does this imply UHH expects to profit off its members (called visitors?) creative works?

I don't know if they intend to profit but it seems to give them that right.

By submitting to UHH you grant, "...license to use in any way, reproduce and distribute the submission and prepare derivative works of the submission without further permission. This includes commercial and non-commercial use of all submissions..."

I would not be pleased with UHH profiting from a photo that I submitted.

But here is a slightly different spin on submissions...

Let’s suppose I take your photos and forward them to a friend just because I want to show them what I consider to be a really great photo. Now suppose that my friend agrees with me and passes it on to few other friends of his. Now what if one of those folks decides to use that photo in an ad or a commercial for which he receives revenue; or uses it as an image in a public display? I know that reputable people would not do that if they know anything about copyright, but what about people who just don’t know the rules and assume that if it came from the web it must be OK to use it?

What if a great photo of a nude young lady somehow got circulated back to her family or employer (school, church, etc)?

Shouldn’t the default assumption be that ANYTHING POSTED ON THE WEB no longer belongs to you?

How does one reach "The Management" to protest this provision and get it changed? Has anyone tried? I read, but don't have anything to post in this section, however, I feel I am now at a point where I can benefit from constructive criticism of my pictures and post production techniques. Unfortunately, this issue may prevent me from doing so.

Any ideas?

Well, you can post without selecting "store original" and sign it prominently.

Foto. Your entries will be sorely missed. I'm glad you pointed that out--I hadn't read that far down. I guess that is how the Hog supports itself, by selling our work without credit. I'll need to reconsider as well.
Excellent pic, btw. I like how the background works with your beautiful model rather than being a distraction or looking like a pile of stuff.
