New Pentax APS-C is here

The new Pentax k3iii is here and if the hype is true will be the most advanced APS-C camera on the market. I have no love for mirrorless cameras and much prefer a live viewfinder to focus and frame my shots. I know that Pentax fans will go for this new camera, but I am not sure if others will make the leap from Nikon, Canon or Sony. While I own a Nikon D7500 and several lenses, I also have a K3ii with over a dozen lenses, so I will add this new body to my camera gear.

I'll be watching out for reviews thoigh my funds don't stretch to a new camera now. Still enjoying the Pentax I did buy new a few years ago K30? What will the new one do better? I dont use the movie function, rarely live view either.

From the early reviews and commentaries, this camera could live up to all the hype of being a truer “flagship.”

I’m holding out for a K1. I already have an APS-C Pentax with more bells and whistles than I’ll ever use. My cookie jar is almost ful . . .

I’ve used Pentax cameras for years. Along with my Olympus cameras. I have found them dependable and rugged. They dabbled in a variety of odd experiments that has cost them. I enjoyed the Q’s and the K0 but not all that useful. Their 645’s are wonderful and their massive 6x7 is amazingly heavy and loud. This is a great move. Short of investing in an entirely different system (mirrorless) it bodes well. Their ability to adapt all the film lenses amazes me. I’m considering the KIII, for the time my Oly’s just won’t do.

I noticed some of the advertising and info, and the K-3 iii looks interesting to me. Looks tempting. Other interests to the Fujifilm X-S10. I would want more new Pentax lenses though as the K-3 's are not real friendly with vintage film lenses like my S, K, M, A ones.

Hmmm. They work on the K1, those older film lenses. Just won’t autofocus or auto expose. There are a few that will work shutter preferred when aperture set to auto, I think? They must have changed the interface.

I said not friendly, meaning they work awkwardly with very limited functionality on the newer Pentax cameras. They were still rather usable on my K-5, K-20, K-100 bodies. Really oddly on the K-3. Mounting and getting the iris to stop down are different issues, especially with flash. Compare the owners manuals for the various cameras.

Correct. I’m mainly landscape. Flash and portrait work would be more difficult. Weddings, oh boy! Not fun.

Glad to see Pentax finally came out with this camera. Unfortunately I got tired of waiting and switched to Nikon because of lens selection and the D-500 focusing ability. I do have one lens left from my Pentax collection, a Sigma 500mm, F 4.5 that I bought for $5000.00. This lens has not be used for two years and is in 9+ condition. It also has a lens coat protection put on when I received the lens. The reviews for this lens are very good. This lens is doing me no good sitting on the shelf so I am asking what I consider a very good price for a prime lens like this. I used for wildlife photography and it was a very sharp and clear lens.

I will post photos if anyone is interested, asking $2500.00 + shipping. I will provide the original bill of sale from B&H.
