If you are interested, I am slowly selling my FX lenses as I acquire new lenses for my Z5. I have a 24-120mm f/4 in excellent condition, and a USA model that I would sell for $400, plus shipping. Private message me if interested.

I currently have a D5000 with a Tamron 18-270, Tamron 70-300 and a Nikon 50 prime. I have an opportunity to purchase a D750 body with two batteries and charger that has 10,000 actuations for $650.00. Is that a fair deal and do I really "need" it....lol?
Thanks in advance for your valued opinion.

If the 750 is in good condition you would be sorry for not jumping on that purchase. Yes, I and many others on here have 750's. I also have a 5200.

I found a new 24-85 for $409. Is that a fair price? So far all the used ones say there is some dust in the lens.

That 24-85 from Abe's says it's a "factory fresh import"...means it's very gray. No Nikon USA warranty. That's why it's so cheap.

As for the camera...buy it before it's gone. If I had that opportunity a couple of weeks ago I would now own a D750 instead of the D610 I bought instead for only $50 less than you can get that D750 for. At the time a D750 in excellent condition would have cost me $919 from MPB. I didn't want to spend that much of my stimulus payment on a camera so I opted for the D610 at $600 instead. I'm not disappointed at all with the D610, it's just that I really wanted the D750.

I used to have a D750 before going to the D850. I will say it was a fabulous camera, and I sold it with over 75k actuations. If you wish to go FF (vs DX) it's a wonderful price for this camera. As an aside, I have a 28-300 for sale on UHH which is designed for FF camera. It's a great walk around lens and is in good condition. PM me if you do decide to go for the 750 and are interested in this lens.
Good luck regardless of your decision. Do what's right for you.

Go for it. That’s a great deal. Just buy some good used Nikkor FX lenses.

A further comment or two.If you are purchasing the camera from a dealer or retailer ask them to upgrade the firmware to the latest. You can do it yourself otherwise. You will need to select the focal lengths of lenses carefully, considering what you like to shoot. For what it's worth, my lenses are primarily in the mid range focal lengths being a 10mm fisheye, 14-30 & 24-70. I have a 70-200 but rarely use it. Interestingly, the fisheye is a DX lens but I now have a full frame Z camera and the lens performs quite well. Further, shoot in raw.

Take your time on lenses. I found that with a 50mm I could skip the zooms that cover that focal length and just go with a wide zoom, e.g., 16-35 or so and then a longer zoom beginning at about 70 or 80 mm up to 200 or 300. I could manage very well with these three and maybe a longer zoom like the 200-500. The rest of my lenses and I have a lot, are really excess baggage. BTW the wide zoom will also work well on the D5000 giving an angle of view of about 24-70. All of the full frame lenses will work on the D5000, unless you get lenses without focus motors like the "D" lenses. So, stick with AF-S and use on both bodies. Check Nikon's compatibility chart on which lenses will give you focus and metering on the D5000 body as well as the D750 body.

The 24-120 would be more versatile.
I’m a working pro, (hard at the moment since I shoot people) have the 24-70 2.8 but use the 24-120 a lot more. That extra range is really handy for me, despite the somewhat bigger size, vs the 24-85 you’re considering. https://www.mpb.com/en-us/used-equipment/used-photo-and-video/used-lenses/used-nikon-fit-lenses/nikon-af-s-24-120mm-f-4g-ed-vr/sku-1082565/
I wouldn’t hesitate to buy used from MPB or KEH. I’ve done it several times.

Here’s thread on using both on a D750: https://nikonites.com/d750/30841-d750-24-120-d750-24-85-a.html#axzz6qt8wW1G2

Excellent advice! I love my D750 and my 24-120mm lens. That is the lens that I use most often. I have the 70-300mm, a 50mm and a 60mm micro. All Nikon lenses.

Oh, I'd stay far away from Abes.
