Interesting Flies

I've submitted this fly to Bugguide. I can find similar to it, but not in N. America. I had to take these from about 12' away as I had a long lens on with ducks in mind. . Anyone have any ideas on the iD? They didn't do much hovering & spent most of the time nosed into the flowers. They are maybe a cm long. It was a fairly warm day today. Almost 70*.

Nice pictures!
Likely a Syrphid fly, so in bug guide, for your state, there is this candidate:

Thanks Mark. I saw the Narcissus bulb fly - Merodon equestris in bugguide, but didn't think to consider old world imports. That was also the closest I came up with.
Has anyone written a guide to the PNW flies similar to the Princeton guide to hover flies in the NE?

Just saw this in the description: "locally important pest of daffodils (Narcissus spp.)(1); accidentally introduced in the US, probably with bulbs"
I'll catch one & look for the 'sock' pattern in the wing veins.
As the daffodils are blooming all around, I'd say you nailed it! Thanks!!

Got the final ID from bugguide.
Syrphid Flies (Syrphidae) » Eristalinae » Rhingiini » Cheilosiina » Cheilosia » Cheilosia grossa

They used my photos which was nice. The larvae feed on thistles & it was Introduced in the US to control thistles
