Good afternoon all, from a cold and grey London! Only 7'C for us here today!!

I'm late arriving because have been perusing the extra pages in the newspaper about Prince Philip, some lovely photos of him and Her Majesty and the family, they obviously laughed a lot in happier days! There was also a double page spread quoting a lot of the very rude things he had been known to say in public, I think if he had been anyone else, he would have been punched in the face a few times!!!

Off for my jab later but I don't think it is going to be the weather to walk along the embankment, heavy rain on its way!!!

Good morning from Port Hope Ontario Canada. It is 9:54 am EDT and 11'C (52'F) going up to 19'C this afternoon.
Yesterday was cooler and rainy so I decided to do the bi-weekly shopping on Friday instead of Saturday. I only went to one store (and paid a lot more money) because of our high case numbers. The store wasn't too bad until the rain stopped so I hurried the rest of my shopping and went home. One of the things that I bought was some southern fried chicken. But I don't think it had been handled correctly in the store because both DD and myself were sick to our stomachs last night. (Mum never gets sick, she has a cast iron stomach.)
Our new covid number is 4227 with a positivity of 6.3%. The province has promised to vaccinate younger people in hot spots using mobile clinics. My employer was already doing that. Mum saw one of my employer's vans in the parking lot of Social Services office, vaccinating all the people who were coming to the office. There were 22 more cases in this area, all relatives of the people who were at that party. We're running out of nurses so the government has authorized Personal Support workers and Health Care Aides (6 weeks training) to work in the hospitals. The hospitals are asking for ICU nurses to be transferred from other provinces. (I don't think that is going to happen.) All elective and non-emergency surgeries have been cancelled. There are 541 people in ICU. Yesterday, the province also told the hospitals to ration one of the drugs that is used to treat covid patients as we are running out and supply is uncertain. Toronto patients are routinely being transferred to London and Kingston now until those hospitals fill.
Still no vaccinations in this area. The vaccine hasn't arrived yet. The province managed to vaccinate over 200K people in the rest of the province.
Today is laundry and knitting while waiting for the machines. Mum and I will be walking this afternoon as it will be lovely today.
