Good afternoon all, from a cold and grey London! Only 7'C for us here today!!

I'm late arriving because have been perusing the extra pages in the newspaper about Prince Philip, some lovely photos of him and Her Majesty and the family, they obviously laughed a lot in happier days! There was also a double page spread quoting a lot of the very rude things he had been known to say in public, I think if he had been anyone else, he would have been punched in the face a few times!!!

Off for my jab later but I don't think it is going to be the weather to walk along the embankment, heavy rain on its way!!!

Have a good one everybody, stay safe!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Wishing you well on the jab. Most say it’s easy and no effects.

Good morning from Port Hope Ontario Canada. It is 9:54 am EDT and 11'C (52'F) going up to 19'C this afternoon.
Yesterday was cooler and rainy so I decided to do the bi-weekly shopping on Friday instead of Saturday. I only went to one store (and paid a lot more money) because of our high case numbers. The store wasn't too bad until the rain stopped so I hurried the rest of my shopping and went home. One of the things that I bought was some southern fried chicken. But I don't think it had been handled correctly in the store because both DD and myself were sick to our stomachs last night. (Mum never gets sick, she has a cast iron stomach.)
Our new covid number is 4227 with a positivity of 6.3%. The province has promised to vaccinate younger people in hot spots using mobile clinics. My employer was already doing that. Mum saw one of my employer's vans in the parking lot of Social Services office, vaccinating all the people who were coming to the office. There were 22 more cases in this area, all relatives of the people who were at that party. We're running out of nurses so the government has authorized Personal Support workers and Health Care Aides (6 weeks training) to work in the hospitals. The hospitals are asking for ICU nurses to be transferred from other provinces. (I don't think that is going to happen.) All elective and non-emergency surgeries have been cancelled. There are 541 people in ICU. Yesterday, the province also told the hospitals to ration one of the drugs that is used to treat covid patients as we are running out and supply is uncertain. Toronto patients are routinely being transferred to London and Kingston now until those hospitals fill.
Still no vaccinations in this area. The vaccine hasn't arrived yet. The province managed to vaccinate over 200K people in the rest of the province.
Today is laundry and knitting while waiting for the machines. Mum and I will be walking this afternoon as it will be lovely today.

So discouraging. Mental health is suffering too. I think they said putting patients on their stomachs instead of their backs was better. Some retired doctors were asked to come back. I hoped shots would mean safe going out but I heard people with shots caught Covid. Hope you and the others all stay well.

Put on double socks. I find when my feet are warm the rest of me is warm too.

Heat leaves through the head too. I’d wear a hat and socks if it helped me be warm.

As soon as we could reach the pedals we were taught how to drive the tractors and farm vans. It helped when the farmer needed something back at the barn and he could send whichever of us was finished our chore.

Sounds like fun. I’d volunteer.

Isn't that where guys are supposed to muck around with cars. My brother and the lad next door used to always work on cars and trucks in the driveway.

We didn’t have driveways so curb side was the spot.

I’ve decided I dislike the lace cowl I’ve done much work on because the dark yarn doesn’t show the pattern well so I’ve started a scarf instead. I think the yarn overs made it not warm too. Live and learn.

Good morning all from a blue skied and sunny Norfolk but sub-zero in the wind. Not a lot planned for the day again but have a grocery delivery this morning and that's my excitement for the day. Have a peaceful Sunday and stay safe. xx

Good morning from sunny Surrey. Spent most of yesterday potting up seedlings. My conservatory is now looking like a garden centre! In the evening I started knitting myself a pair of bamboo and cotton summer socks.

More pottering today.

Happy Sunday everyone and stay safe xxxx

The jab was fine thanks Polly, my arm is a little tender this morning, as it was with the first one, but I'm so glad to have had it!! xxxx

Yep, same here!! When I was about 11 or 12, I spent most of the summer holidays, sitting on the curb while my dad stripped his car down to the bones!! My job was to sit on the curb with a bowl of paraffin (kerosene?) and a stiff brush and to clean all the parts as my dad handed them to me. I learned a lot about car engines but of course, they are all different now. It brought us very close that summer and is a time I treasure!!

Hope you can find some nice, lighter yarn for your cowl, at least you are familiar with the pattern now!! xxxx

Good morning all from a bright but chilly London!! 9'C here today but, like Jacky, we have a wind-chill factor, keeping it cold!

Nothing at all planned for today, had enough excitement yesterday!! I shall probably do some knitting on my stripy sweater at some point, do some puzzles, play cards with DH, that's about it!!

Have a good one everybody, lots of love xxxxxxxx
