"Social" Distancing?

How is it social? Minimum 6 foot separation, no handshaking, no hugs. Seems anti-social to me.

And, what about "social" media?

They had to call it something.
Since we have to keep a distance apart when we socialize,
The called it Social Distancing.
A lot shorter than "keep(ing) your distance from other people when near them".

I have a line scrubber for social media.

That's typically more social than I normally was pre-pandemic. So in a sense, this pandemic brought people closer than I want them to be

Good morning "GPC",

I've always thought "physical distancing" was the more appropriate term. There has never been a time when we needed figurative social closeness more than now. Keep up with the masking and "physical" distancing as is necessary but make every effort to remain social - whether it be e-mailing, texting, Facebook, phone call or even via old fashioned hand written letters. All we really have is each other.
Just my two cents worth.

All the best to you and yours GPC,

Terry

Most people don't realize that the 6-foot rule is variable. It all depends on the size of the person's feet. For instance, 6 of my feet are a much greater distance than 6 of most other men. if a man wears size 9 shoes, 6 of them is a distance of 54", while my shoes are size 15, which totals 90". So I have to stand 36" farther away than other men do.

I just flew from Allentown to Charleston by way of Washington DC. It seems social distancing on planes and in airports is about 18 inches!
