Kindle Problem

I bought a Kindle Paperwhite around the first part of February and it has been just great,..............until today. I tried to change it from Wifi to Air Plane mode and it totally froze up and I can't get it to do anything. Tried the On/Off button hoping it would reset, but nothing. Has anyone ever had this sort of problem with their Kindle and what did you do to fix it?

Push the on/off button in and hold in for a full minute. That should do a master reset.

Happened to my wife’s too, she called support, and she’s been using since.
Call Amazon support. Should be a simple fix

Yea, Team! Thank you! That did the trick. I just hadn't held it in long enough. Crazy electronics. Cutting power seems to be the trick for most computerized problems.

If You have not done so, I advise you purchase from Amazon, the Kindle Paperwhite User Manual by Shelby Johnson.dxc . For a lockup press the power button for 20 seconds and then reset.

Click here for the free instructions that come with your device

An occasional full reboot is recommended.

Thanks for the link, Linda. It just boggles my brain that they do not include instructions with computerized products. The first IBM computer I bought had two very thick books that came with it.

I didn't go searching for that instruction doc; can't recall exactly how I acquired it, though - maybe was in an email from amazon after my purchase, or on the product page on amazon site?

As for manuals, all pretty much online now. People download the full pdf instructions to their phones and/or computers, maybe just print an occasional page. Saves money for all us.

I hadn't thought of it from that point of view, but, you're right. And being from two ethnic groups that are noted for their frugality, I should have.

Glad you found a solution. Really liked my Paperwhite but moved and this county only allows the Kindle Fire - really ticked me off....

That is strange. Why, or how, does a county get to dictate what sort of Kindle you use? I know of a town that will not allow people to put solar on their roofs as the power company is town owned, but a Kindle?

I totally agree. A county cannot prevent the use of a Paperwhite Kindle, requiring the use of a fire tablet. Someone has been snookered. I live in central Florida and love using my Paperwhite kindle.

Perhaps he means his county library e-lending program is compatible with only the Kindle Fire. Which barely makes more sense than the original comment

Had a Page White since 7/2014, put 440 books through it.
Didn't learn much but it made it easy to fall asleep.
