I know I'm getting old and I know the pandemic is getting to me but I have a couple of degrees and other post-graduate qualifications HOWEVER having given up trying to figure out Bitcoins and Blockchain I'm now reading about NFT's (or Non-Fungible Tokens to the initiated). I think it may be time for me to admit defeat!
I'm sure there will be some who will make money with these. However, I'm at a point where this sort of bullshit doesn't matter to me. Actually, I probably passed that point some decades ago.

I saw the same thing and had to look it up. It was in reference to what was called a piece of art with a crazy price paid. The definition said it was for something that could not be reproduced or copied. Strange stuff going on.

I don't care what Bitcoins and Blockchains are, now add NFT to the list.

One way to think of crypto currency is to relate it to email.
With email you can send a message to anyone, anywhere at anytime. With bitcoin you can send and receive money to anyone etc. the same way with no bank, credit card fees or government interference.
The crypto part is a way to use other people and their computers to keep everyone honest.
This is vastly simplified of course but is kinda the backbone.
As you can imagine, banks cc companies and governments are less than thrilled to lose control of this.
It’s not without issues (dark web, Silk Road, other criminal stuff) but it’s here to stay methinks.
There are a Lot of people who have already made millions and billions buying and selling bitcoin.
Not me though, dang!

I'm still trying to figure out woke
I view it as another scheme to create wealth from something non-tangible. Carbon Tax will be the next big thing where people can invest to buy and sell Carbon Credits that are available from industries that did not use their mandated allotment. An investment in something that does not actually exist...really?
I'm not saying that carbon based emissions do not exist. What I'm relating to is selling something intangible on a market of buy-hold-sell demand is the basis of a perceived value.
Here's my take. Anytime a price is put on something it is done for someone's advantage. Mandate reducing carbon emissions...okay. Creating a business as a pathway to wealth as a means...NO'k. The reason of, "Well, if you didn't use all of your allotment then you can sell it to someone else" allows someone else to use the carbon that otherwise would have been eliminated entirely. It's like, "If I drive under the speed limit by 10 mph then I can sell that 10 mph to someone else who can then exceed the speed limit by 10 mph because he now has what I did not use".

What scares me is the value of bitcoin varies, and I imagine the people making lots of money on it have some knowledge the rest of us don't.
