I recently was sitting courtside at the state semi-finals and brought along my Z6 with a 24-70 f4 lens. What a difference shooting in a college arena with TV lighting makes, compared to a HS gym. My Z6 had a few limits in AF the action, but some could have been me being rusty.
The camera handled the action pretty well, although my confidence level was not as high as when using the D500. Not as on the money, and lagging the performance of a D500 or D4s, but all in all, you can get good shots. I may upgrade to a Z6II for even better AF performance. One thing is certain, you can let the ISO fly high with a Z6 and not worry too much about noise integrity.
Cropping may have stripped EXIF data. First shot is at f4, 1/320, 2000 ISO and 66mm
Second shot is f4, 1/320, ISO 2000 and 44mm
Great shots. I only wish I could be so “rusty” I am also jealous of the court side. To get that close to filling the frame, I am normally shooting 150mm
I am really amazed that these froze at 1/320. I would have thought at the college level you would have needed to be north of 1/800
Nice work
Sharp, excellent clarity!

To clarify, it was La High School Final Four, but played at the Cajundome, a D-1 college arena that seats 13,500. I was just marveling over the light difference.
The second one is perfect. Thanks for sharing. Paul
