Carol said I should re-post this here, and, well, I dunno if "study" applies, haha, but I was going through some old shots I took in Vegas circa '09. Hmmmmm. I like angles and shapes/patterns so gravitate to things of that nature...sometimes lines on poles and such. Here are three: First one is actually pretty color-accurate (remember, this is Las Vegas, repleat with neon everywhere in every color), Second is a different angle with a color tweak, Third is #2 in B&W and warped a bit. I'm going to make a 3D piece out of these, a large to small kinda thing (I've got the design in my head, now all I have to do is...heh). It will test my joinery skills and selection of materials for sure.
Interesting how boring simplistic things we see every day are interesting when viewed from a different perspective.
You, chasgroh, have gone a step beyond and made the mundane interesting. In a free large online book, the line is discussed in several sections, S-lines, The diagonal line, and Psychological lines.

Back then there were perhaps 40 individual phone lines attached to the poles. Image of old poles and wires

I'm so glad you accepted the invitation, Charlie. To me this is pure artistry!
Thanks folks, especially Carol with the prod!
I think you have some modern art going here. Also, second thing I thought of is these would be great in 3D.
