First time I've attempted a puddle reflection done this way. I'm unsure if this is considered digital artistry, but I can see multiple uses for the technique, whether it's portraiture or landscape. First is the reflection and underneath it is the original shot from May of 2019. I saw the technique on Photoshop Cafe and I'll share the link if someone asks rather than placing the link in the initial post. Thought I'd share.

If you would like, Please click on the reflections picture, doing so will link you to the gallery page where the shot can be seen in higher resolution and full page. Thanks for viewing and Have A Blessed Day !!!

Idle curiosity: does it make sense to have a reflection for only one object in the photo? Not criticizing, just asking.

First time I've attempted a puddle reflection done... (show quote)

This is just my personal opinion but I feel that anything you do with photography can be artistry if it expresses what you feel or want to say. There is artistry in creating a sharp, well composed photo and also in manipulating elements to change the story.

The reflection you created is pretty and colorful, it creates added interest and it is something you saw in your mind’s eye. It takes a creative eye to see and recognize the possibilities all around us.

Very nice technique! Please do share the link.
One suggestion: can you make the puddle appear to extend upward under the car, or at least make its top border irregular? It currently extends upward to the tires, but between the tires it does not, and ends in a straight line.

Thank you David. Excellent suggestions, at the post office now, should be home in 30 minutes or so, I’ll be happy to share the link then. Thanks Again

I do not know about 'pretty' in this case, but the reflection is really well done.

Good question Jay... only one object?... well that one object is the subject of the story, the rest are background and could just as well be blurred. The visual story is about the upfront car. Without the reflection to echo the beauty, the photo would have been "ho-hum."

Until February of this year I used Lightroom, and stayed out of Photoshop. I decided it was time to learn Photoshop, and have started on that learning journey. I enjoyed the shot of the Mercedes, but knew it was as you say ho-hum, the edits in Photoshop have helped to change it to one I'm pleased to view, and I really do like how the puddle reflection draws attention to what a beautiful car it is. Thank You !!

You did a nice job on the reflection. As was suggested to extend the “water” to under the car would be helpful. I like you cloned out the pole and whatever that was on the left hand corner.
