For sure!! Highly discriminated against for being black. His TV variety show was fabulous, but cancelled by NBC because it could not attract a sponsor. Just for the color of his skin!! Outrageous!! Yes, I know that is a bit political, but I'll say it anyway!!
Thanks,
Mark
Jazz pianist and wonderful voice, a talent lost too soon. One of my favorite artists when I had female company over. Do you know who the guitarist is?

If ever a voice could be called velvet his voice was it. It used to turn the Mrs on lol
I vaguely remember his show and still listen to him. Alexa does a fine job!
One of my very favorite singers of all times. Thanks for sharing this.
My Dad was a big fan and always watched his TV show. Fortunately,
I inherited my Dad’s appreciation for the great singers of that era👍
Incredible talent. I presume you are in possession of his album with George Shearing. It is one of my favorites.
I had the opportunity to see his daughter, Natalie, live about 15 years ago. She was also great and more of a jazz singer than I realized.

A classy and talented man; gone too soon.
A voice like "buttah". Very smooth. I remember the show.
