John, my perspective is this. We, on this side of the pond, have little grasp on how royalty behaves or is treated within the confines of the castle. Nor do we have the intimate knowledge of those that "worship" her majesty. I do know that some in Britain could care less about The Royales and some who devote their lives to following every move they make.
The "the interview", which I didn't watch as I have no TV, fueled the fantasies of those over here and probably irritated The Royals over there. The end result is probably determined by which side of the pond one resides.
Just as a casual observation, I'm not all too sure I'd like to be a royal. It would seem life is too regimented, regulated, and prescribed for my liking. I prefer to come and go at my leisure without the press being alerted to my every move and that every move being scrutinized.
