Had a little visitor in our garden...a beautiful Kookaburra. Seemed quite tame and let me get quite close...investigated our back garden and then flew away after about 30 minutes.
First one I've ever seen in the Village.

Great captures of this interesting-looking bird. The body style is quite like a Kingfisher, I think. Thanks for sharing.

It made me smile just to read Kookaburra. I pretty much started singing—“Kookburra sits in the old gum tree...”

Beautiful image. Many years ago I was visiting the aviary at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. While there we were treated to the spectacle of a Kookaburra capturing and consuming a small garter snake which was living in the aviary building. That is one powerful bill!
