I'm not a Mac guy so I really can't comment on your earlier post. However with regard to Topaz products I definitely suggest upgrading graphics cards. More and more post-processing software programs are using a graphic card's GPU to speed up processing these days. A good quality card is as important an upgrade, or maybe even more important, as increasing RAM.

I said in my first comments that it all comes down to the Graphics card. My Mid-2011 iMac Desktop has the AMD card in it but that doesn't matter anyway because it is soldered in and there is no way to remove and replace. So to even update to the 2021 Version of Photoshop/LightRoom CC, I got the new MacBook Pro with the M1 Chip Processor and connect that to my BenQ SW2700 PT Monitor and away I go. This new MacBook Pro is the 13.3 inch Model and the 256gb storage doesn't mean anything because I back everything up into a 1tb external drive. I didn't care about screen size as I do all of my editing on that 27 inch BenQ. With the advent of AI, people should just get used to it and upgrade now, that is if you plan on doing any editing at all. Every major program will require the proper Graphics above everything else. If you have a MacBook or iMac desktop then everything can go into iCloud drive and your set. I don't keep every file that I have on my Desktop or MacBook as they can just be backed into the ext. storage drive as I like to call it.

For quick processing I generally use PS or LR. And the job gets done quickly. I really like the results that I get from Topaz and ON1. But here's the problem. When I do post processing using Topaz and ON1 it really goes slow. I have seen it take as long as an hour to sharpen a photo with Topaz. I use a HP desktop computer. Do I need to buy more RAM or memory? Do I need to buy an external hard drive? Do I need to buy a whole new computer? I'm open to feedback.

Simple: topaz algorithms (specially "focus") is extremely CPU and GPU intensive.

I use a high end engineering workstation and Topaz sharpening ("focus mode") takes about 25 - 30 seconds to complete.
