Take a serious look at Notepad++. Good for a wide range of editing.

I've used Komodo for Python, PHP, Perl, Java/Javascript and various other HTML related editing. A good product but overkill for most work.

That's another good one. I use Notepad++ on my work laptop because I don't need all the other functionality that Komodo has.

I have text editors, but I like the color coding in Komodo (and Spider Pad) and line numbering and bookmarks in Komodo, does Notepad++ do that? Not that I need another editor......
Komodo is MUCH more versatile that Spider Pad was.

See attached screen shot of HTML file in NotePad++

I've also shown the Languages dropdown. Supports everything I'll ever use.

Good to know there is a backup system.
Thanks.

Holy hell of brighness....LOL

I'm just kidding of course. I have mine set in a dark theme and don't get all of those colors. But in all fairness, the only two file types I work with are Python and Yaml files, so I don't need much more than a dark background and a couple colors.

Yea, I'm still trying to decide if I like the dark or light more. Been using light for a lifetime.

I've been using Notepad++ for text files but it also handles HTML and C++. Haven't tried it in Python yet. Usually use Dreamweaver for HTML.

But Komodo sounds interesting. I will be trying it out in my Copious Free Time (whenever that occurs).

I've only used Komodo a couple of times. Seems okay, but unless I'm doing something wrong, I can't select a whole line without swiping the line. (so far)
I might try Notepad++.
Maybe since it's not quite as "versatile" as Komodo, it might be less "cluttered"?
I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a second HTML editor either?

I like Dreamweaver for the simple reason it does some degree of editing of my HTML code...

I would suggest a 64 bit version for a 64 bit platform. I'm running Notepad++ v7.9.2 (64 bit) on Windows 10.

Win 7 is available in 32 or 64 bit. Download the appropriate Notepad++.

I run 32 bit Win 7 on a laptop to support 32 bit printer and microscope camera drivers. 64 bit Win 10 on everything else. I have Notepad++ on everything.

I really haven't been paying attention. Just looked at Notepad++ and it's version 6.3.3. It's located in Program Files (x86) so I assume it's 32 bit. The file dates range from 2012 to 2019.

I don't use it much for anything other than text. I think I started using it because Notepad wouldn't handle large text files. Just been carrying it along through the years as my systems changed.

Used to use Win7 but now it's all Win10.
