The Rio Grande Scenic Railroad ran between Alamosa and La Veta Colorado from 2006 to 2019. It's main machine was 2-8-0 Consolidation #18, built by ALCO in 1910.
Here she is backed to the end of a tail track out of the wye in La Veta. The guy in the ball cap seems to have some issue with that. The conductor, hands on hips, isn't taking any crap. The engineer, on the tender, is keeping out of the way.
This was taken with a Canon 7d and an EF 24-105 on the day we rode the train. June 2, 2012.

I've not road the train to La Veta.
Maybe someday.
I chased the steam train years ago from Alamosa to Antonito.
