I have a question that has been asked many times.

Why is this thread in 'Main Photography Discussion' section, instead of 'General Chit Chat'?

Its a revolving door.... Think of all the names you used to see on a reg. basis 5 years ago and now you never see ! Then think of all the new names that are asking the same questions.... If folks got tired of answering the same questions we would have a hard time finding teachers for our kids. This is a diversified site with lots of topic areas.... You don't have to respond to EVERYTHING. As the song goes, " Just walk on by, wait on the corner ".

Does that work in DuckDuckGo?

Or has that been asked before?

If the search engine is set to Google, sure. I don't know for other search engines.

I miss Reg too. Safe to say reg. basis was my favorite basis.

I don't think so....... As for the person chiding in...see below

Obviously the person asking hasn't seen it.

I had a calculus instructor, that during a review for a test, was asking for questions.
Someone said "Can you go over problem 23 on page 97?"
He replied "I already did that one. Any other questions?"
No one liked him either...

Probably because they missed the pull-down to select a category and used the default for where they were at the time. Many don't see that.

I have been a member of UHH for a few years now, and one thing kind of bugs me. When some member asks a question, without fail, one or several members will chide in, saying "That question has been asked before." So, it prompts me to think, is there possibly a "valid" question a member can ask that has not, in some fashion, been asked before?

It is possible but unlikely.

If you know the answer to a question it is just as easy to provide it than to blow the person off. There are a host of reasons why someone would not be aware for previous posts.

There will always be ignorant and selfish members that don't understand what the forum is about and contribute very little if anything at all.

Not according to the members who respond in that manner. Personally, I just skip over those "responses".

It's like Golf Digest. I subscribed years. Eventually, all of the "tips" and "lessons" became rehashes of previous ones, albeit written by a new pro.
