I have some XMP files that I would like to open but have no clue. Can you advise? And I would like for your comment on this photo as someone wanted to know about settings.

Open it with a text editor.

What do you want to do with the files when you get them open?

I believe .xmp files are not images but what are called sidecars. They carry the recipe for the edits that might have been made in a program like lightroom or photoshop, but have to be associated with the main file of the same name but different suffix to be useful.

XMPs are not image files, they contain information used by Adobe regarding the processing that has been done to the actual image file.

There's no telling what Sue would think, but since you've already been informed about .xmp 'sidecar' files, I'll instead comment on the image. Because you asked.

Nice image, essentially. That its been 'processed,' is apparent, and Sue might --or might not; not knowing Sue-- potentially see how. Which could become a problem, since the processing seems not to have gone quite as far as Sue might've wanted it taken. First, there's a darkish 'halo' alongside the telephone pole, and that should've been addressed. As well, something isn't quite in kilter. Sure, the telephone pole sits straight perpendicular as the mind of an observer might expect, but the house sort of missed the mark. Assuming the land hasn't settled, and a sinkhole isn't about to form, the house angles downward to the left, and unless something's afoot, it would be an angling off I'd suggest Sue would want corrected. Oh, and there's what appears to be an uncorrected sensor spot, too, just to the side of the telephone pole, up near the transformers.

But like I said, its a nice image, essentially.

The xmp sidecar files are used by Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw to store edit information. They are of no use to anyone who doesn't have these programs.

When you share images, send them as jpg format images and make sure they are in srgb color space. This is what all of your friends and relatives' computers will expect to receive for viewing.
