Thanks, and what is even more fascinating is how the larvae pupates and transform from the nymph to the adult. This is one that I found held fast to a leaf that was in the process of doing just that. It was quite a rare find.

Awesome work! You have a great eye for capturing and displaying nature's jewels. Thanks again for sharing!

The Ladybug is one of those insects that most children can easily identify and watch with wonder as they crawl on their hand.

Well, I wonder if they would think of them in this Ladybug nymph stage the same way. These look more like a dragon than they do the bright red polka dotted insect of the nursery rhyme fame.

I sure don't think of them the same way in this stage More stuff of nightmares But excellently done and up to your usual, wonderful standards

Thanks ever so much. I enjoy sharing what I see through my magnified lenses as much as I do producing them.

Thanks and I agree that this would not be something that I would want to come across if it were the size of a bear.

Thanks, UTMike. Finding a pupating Ladybug was a special treat last summer. They anchor themselves onto a leaf and then go through the magical process of transformation. The larvae are not much larger that a grain of rice and if it were not for their bright yellow against the green leave they would most likely go unnoticed.

Do you suppose Mr & Mrs slapped each other when they viewed their ugly offspring?
