It was a year ago today I stumbled upon this site and has since been a part of my daily morning coffee routine. I never did introduce myself so thought what better time than now.
My interest in photography started as a teenager and I found myself as the photographer for my high school yearbook way back in the mid 60’s. My school had a wonderful audio-visual lab and some wonderful equipment for me to use. I was enthralled with Crown Graphic 4 x5 and shot sports events with it using both sheet film and a roll film adapter. I also had use of a twin lens reflex camera and a Pentax 35mm SLR. The school had a very nice darkroom where I processed all my images.
My first personal camera was a Yashica Electro 35 I bought while serving in the Navy. In the late 70’s I bought a Nikon FE and have been a Nikon guy ever since moving up to an N80 just prior to the digital SLR’s coming out. First digital was a D70, then a D5100 and presently a D750. I’m slowly acquiring glass to meet my interests which include macro, landscape, grandkids, dogs and astronomy.
I really enjoy this group and have learned a lot and hope to keep the learning curve moving up.
Welcome to the "Hog". Looking forward to seeing some of your work.
Welcome to the hog. I'm looking forward to seeing your work.
Welcome! Nice to meet you! Looks like you have a wonderful history in photography. So lucky to have had the lab facility! I have only been taking photos since 2007 and have so much to learn! I was fortunate to have a mentor, who learned using film and slides, take me under his wing a few years ago. He studied from the works and teachings of Eliot Porter. My landscape photography improved 10 fold by listening and seeing through Don's eyes. I now create abstracts as well. I also see you are a pilot! What great opportunities must have come from that! Look forward to seeing your work.
