Very nice, great catch.
And I don't mean to be picky but I am pretty sure is a juvi Coopers or Sharpshinned, could even be a juvi Goshawk. Nothing to judge size from. But very probibly not a Harrier. Tail is too short, and the face not flat enough.
But a fantastic catch regardless

Good call. It could be a Coopers too. There are so many similarities. I was looking at the eye color, the yellow on the beak trying to decide. Its a head scratcher! Gary

Thanks Gary! Being no bird expert, I am NOT at all sure of my ID of this hawk.
It was too large to be a Sharp Shinned and I thought the tail not rounded enough to be a Cooper's.
My Peterson's shows an illustration of an immature Northern Goshawk that looks similar.
Always welcome help and comments from people with superior knowledge in these things.
The size and coloration are similar to the Harrier females around here but I didn't have an angle
to see if she had the white rump patch.
