I dropped my Sony RX 10 III on the carpet and honestly I don't know if it is broker or not. It seemed to be taking photos on except there is the Flower, A rectangle and hand waving showing on the screen. I watched a video on YouTube trying to get rid of what I never noticed before. Now the screen doesn't show the scene I am trying to take a photo of. It is all camera information, but no photo. I can see through the viewfinder fine and it takes photos looking through the viewfinder. It didn't drop more than 1.5" onto our carpet. I got it out to take a photo of snow and small drop of hail. First time in 23 years we had seen any. Help would be much appreciated. Gregger

Your post says 1-1/2 inch drop, but I’m gonna guess you meant a foot and a half. Onto carpet, I seriously doubt any damage was caused. The rectangle just means you are in single shot mode for shutter release, the hand waving means sayonara to you! No, just kidding! It just indicates steady shot is on. The flower I assume means you are in macro setting in scene mode.
I would just dial through the display menu till it is again familiar, this should get your view back where you want.
Good luck and let us know how this works out. Happy shooting!

One of my favorite menu choices is "Factory Reset".

If the viewfinder is showing information and no image press DISP (at top of Control Wheel to the right of the screen) and it should return to the image.

If your camera does need repair, I recommend sending it to Sony Electronics, c/o Precision Camera, 7 Anngina Drive, Enfield, CT 06082. I had a Sony RX 100 VI that I had pretty much beaten to death because I carry it everywhere. It's a great camera. Sent a repair inquiry to Sony and they referred me to Precision Camera. They gave me an pre estimate of $350.00 to repair it. After they received it they said it wasn't worth fixing so they sent me a brand new camera for the repair estimate. $350.00 Pretty good deal.

Precision Camera 📷 is awesome. Sent a Sony Lens 100-400GM for Repair and the Sony A7r III for a cracked View Finder & the camera store had to send it back for repair because they cracked the LCD. The View Finder really didn’t need repairing because the user is Visually impaired and only uses the LCD Screen!

I don't have an RX 10, but I do have several Sony cameras. When holding the camera away from your eye, the DISP position on the control wheel will, when pressed, change the information on the rear display. When the camera is held to your eye it will do the same for the EVF. I don't think there is any thing wrong with your camera. You just need to become more familiar with the camera. https://www.amazon.com/Photographers-Guide-Sony-DSC-RX10-III/dp/1937986543

You are correct! I meant 1.5 feet. What I can't understand is not the screen shows nothing but data and not the scene I at which I have the camera pointed. It wasn't doing that earlier. I did watch a YouTube video and made some changes. I sure hope you are right. Thanks for replying.

That did it! Boy oh boy did that make me feel good. Now I have to find out all of these icons around the screen. I am not a photographer, I just like to take photos. I've always been good at seeing in my mind what would make a good photo. I shoot auto. This camera does a good job for it. Thank you so much.

You are correct. I am not a photographer as I stated to another member. I just enjoy taking photos. With this pandemic my wife and I rarely get out. But I simply love this camera. I just purchased that book on my Kindle.
