In this second set for the year 2018, we see two well-known structures from the Roman times in Southern France, then a set of images from our river cruise in Russia, followed by a few from Washington State.
If you would like to see more pictures from the areas covered yesterday or today, then I invite you to have a look at my photo-website, where I recently posted over 100 pictures from my selection process for this calendar. Marvelous series, Joe. I am amazed at the age of the first two. A tribute to the architects and builders.

Quick question as to the Seige/Battle of Leningrad during the WWII.
Were these damaged and rebuilt or weren't they touched?
Another interesting leg of your calendar extravaganza, Joe!

Thank you Barbara - yes it is amazing, what they were able to do over 2000 years ago, the engineering for the waterway and that aqueduct are just unbelievable, if you have time, I suggest you google Pont du Gard and read on that feat! The temple in Nimes is a real beauty as well.

Good question - I had to look up the answer myself, my friends at Google and Wikipedia never let me down ...
On my first reflex, I was thinking that Peterhof might have been spared, as it is quite a bit outside the action town of Leningrad, but this apparently was not the case - the palace and much of the structures suffered very heavy casualties and were subsequently rebuilt. It is quite an interesting story, so I provide you (and other readers who might be interested) the link below to the entire article in Wikipedia on Peterhof.
The specific information on the war damage is towards the end in chapter 3.1 headed History - 1941-Modern Day

I can only say that this is another fine set, Joe.

I'm with Barbara ... they sure don't make 'em like they use to. Great composition on #4. Feels like a much wider focal length. And I really like the Skyscape at Lake Onega. Skies like that sure don't come around often, at least in my experience. Finally, one comment on my jealousy ... I drove 3 hours to get to Mt. Rainier NP and got there just after the storm clouds moved in. Never saw the mountain and here you have it twice. Very, very nice set, Joe.
