I'm thinking of replacing my digital Pen F with a used XPro 1. Are these reliable? What are your thoughts?

I shoot with Fuji X-T2 and have shot with the XPro 1.......and it's VERY reliable in every way you can think of.....but you'll need at least one of Fuji's excellent X mount lenses. You wont be sorry Good Luck

Reliability should be among the last of your concerns with an X-Pro1. Its every bit as reliable as any other camera. Instead, your main concern should center on the condition of the particular X-Pro1 you may be interested in, and that would be a) dependent on the accuracy and honesty of the seller's description, and b) your hands on checking out and use of the actual camera. Wouldn't these same considerations apply to the purchase of practically any piece of used 'high tech' gear? If anything, a 'limited guarantee' of some kind, or better, a full refund policy would be what I'd be looking for, first and foremost.

I know nothing about your present Pen F, so there'd be no point in me trying to make comparisons between it and the Fuji you're considering. Similarly, I know nothing about your goal or purpose for making the switch, or whether those would or would not be fulfilled. What I do know, however, is that the X-Pro1 I own prompted me to keep it, continue using it, and add to it by subsequently purchasing a (used, pristine condition) X-T2 as well as several native Fuji X mount lenses which extend the capabilities of the adapted 'classic' non-Fuji lenses I likewise use.

The above said, I should note that my 'primary' systems are Nikon, but you'd better believe that neither of my Fujis gather any dust.

Reliable as it lasts a long time? Fuji cameras are bulletproof in normal use. Which lenses are you thinking of?

Thank you. My Pen F failed and it will be expensive to repair.

I have used a XP1 since its introduction. In all sorts of weather and situations. Still works just fine. Only upgraded, still Fuji, last year. Sometimes I wonder why did I bother.
If you were a film SLR photographer, I think you will enjoy the analog style controls. My XP1/XE1 combo was much like my Nikon F/Nikkormat combo back in the day.
Interesting thing about the XP1 and the first generation sensors is they are still considered by Fuji fans the best as to Fuji flavor, the characteristics that gave Fuji its great jpeg reputation. Fine sensor even today.

Very interesting thread for me, I too have had $$$ repairs with my Oly m5 and m1 and I have considered the X-t1 and x-e2 and the Fuji universe

I have the X-T1 w/their 18-135mm lens and love it. If you also need a lens would recommend this one for its versatility. However, if your looking for a bit more compactness, their 18-55mm is equally as good and provides a smaller combination. Good Luck!

Reliability has never been an issue with Fuji...

I use the XT 2 and 3. Camera decision.com has a detailed comparison of the x pro 1 and xt 2. Used price difference is about $250.
Many good Fuji lenses- recommend the 35mm 1.4 if you do mostly short range work.

following this thread with interest -- would like to know, can you use Oly or PL lenses on the Fuji XP 1 ? or do they have to be Fuji lenses?
