Vivitar MC 75-205mm 2x Matched Multiplier

I bought a bunch of supposed "Minolta" lenses at an auction. But instead, they are Vivitar and Minolta "MC" mount. They all seem to have a flange that sticks out the back, and they do not fit in my Sony A mount adapter. Does anyone know how to adapt them to Sony E mount, and also of what use is a Vivitar matched multiplier? (on the side it says "For P/K)

That usually means Pentax K mount. If I remember correctly, the "matched multiplier" was a teleconverter that was optically matched to a particular lens -- I think they were sold together.

Does the multiplier fit all lenses? If so, you likely have Vivitar MC (Multi Coated) lenses with Pentax K bayonet mounts. Vivitar never had their own mount, and I don't think Minolta ever labelled their lenses "MC."

Yes, there appears to be two systems in this group. There is a "Star-D" Auto teleconverter that attaches to a "Star-D" 80-200mm auto zoom, and there is a Vivitar 85-205 zoom lens that I cannot seem to attach the Multiplier to. These all seem to be "bayonet" mounts, and they say "MC". They are not AF lenses. So you think these are Pentax?

It would help to see the mounts. Here's a couple of links that hopefully will enable you to determine what you have:

You need a Minolta MC/MD to Sony E mount adaptor. They can be found at B&H for under $20.

Thank you for that. First time I heard of Minolta Celtic. Of course, that would only be for a Minolta branded lens, with a Minolta mount. The OP has also mentioned Star D and Vivitar MC. For Vivitar, MC means multi-coated. The Vivitar multiplier is for a Pentax K bayonet mount. Hopefully the links I provided will enable the OP to determine which mounts he has, so he can select the correct adapter. Thus far, we do not know which adapter he has. Again, thanks for the education on Minolta Celtic.

.... Yeah, l didn't think beyond the Minolta! Too early to think, I guess!! You are correct!! The Vivitar would have it's own nomenclature.

He'll have to get the appropriate adapter for whichever mounts are on his lenses.
