I do not know if this is true, but use to hear many such workers were native americans.
Pictures of workers in top wind mills look similar, things are huge up close.
Think of the view for a camera shot. Might even get to help an eagle relocate.

Another job I do not want! Some men were working on a cell tower today. I could not pass up on the photo opportunity. My camera was a Sony RX-10 M3 on a cloudy day with some sprinkles and mist.
My first summer job in Syracuse was working as a climber for Bartlett Tree Co.
On my first day, they suited me up and sent me up a ladder to the first big branch about 25 feet off the ground. There were no bucket trucks in those days and we were not allowed to use spikes. When i got on that branch I froze and though they couldn't see it, I was crying. All i knew was abject fear and humiliation from the guys laughing below.
But by the end of the summer I climbed to nearly the top of an Elm tree that was 130 feet tall. I was very proud when the foreman told me that I might become a real climber some day.

I love roller coasters, but the first time I road one where you standup, basically bound to a pole on a flat platform, my brain screamed you're going to die, teleport me off, and all it had done was to round a flat level circle. Most primal level of fear I have felt as an adult.
An excellently captured set Bill. I too would not want their job. Mahalo for sharing.

When building those tall buildings in New York they had to bring in those native americans for the iron work.
