I was out looking for some raptors, and about ready to head home since clouds had rolled in and I lost the good light. As I was about to turn around, I spotted an eagle in a tree. Waste not, want not, I stopped to take the shot, not figuring that I'd get much, both light and distance as issues. About the time my feet hit the pavement, there was an Eagle storm, Eagles flying in every direction, 8? 9? More? I couldn't tell you, but pretty amazing. All but the one in the tree had been roosting on the ground, so they just appeared from nowhere. I had the old ED 600 5.6 on the D7200, so clumsy and manual focus as well. A few stayed long enough for some shots, nothing to boast about, just proof of the story. I will try that spot again!

Dear quixdraw...One never knows when a photo instant is going to jump up right in front of you. That's why I always like to have a camera with me. You did a great job of being awake and capable of capturing the Eagle's activity in a split instant, where most unprepared non-photographers would have got zilch! Nice work and thanks for sharing you special talent. Shooter41
Nice on-the-spot captures!
Were they all juveniles? Was there a dead deer in the area that they were scavenging off? Might be worth going back and quietly get in position for them to return....

Thank you - I nearly always have a camera unless the truck is filled with dogs!

Was a mixture 2 or 3 adults the rest juvenile. The spot is well back on private land and I don't trespass. There might be a carcass back in there, but I have seen smaller groups 3 or 4 mixed age, just sitting on a bare field or ice covered pond - this was unusual.
Wow, what a great result from a surprise like that! You've still got the reflexes! Do we call you Dances With Eagles from now on?

Thanks! I missed far more than I got. The light had changed and no time for the camera settings. As to dancing, used to love it, but prolly over the hill!

Good shooting. Love seeing juveniles, you just never know what they are going to do. Gary
