This is one of my preserved little Darkling Beetles that I staged for a focus stacking session. The alcohol didn't dry completely on its face so it may appear to be a bit wet, which it is.
The green background is an "Owens Green" sample paint swatch that I placed behind the beetle for the session. Sample paint swatches are on display and free for the taking at the local hardware and other stores that sell house paints.

Can't imagine it has very good sight with the limited and widely separated eyes. Fine work on this shot Gary!

Thanks, Doc. Some beetles are colorful jewels with shimmer and patterns. Others, not so much so and this is one of them.
