My wife and I have almost gotten a divorce over which way the house looks (kidding?). I like it better with the bushes, she did not.
Without.
Who cut them out?
As usual when it comes to the house, the wife wins! However, when it comes to being practical, next time hide or secure the chain saw!
I like "with"....but, then again, what is my opinion worth ????
Perhaps you could agree on some other shrubs, besides a hedge. Nurseries usually are willing help with suggestions.
Without. Plant some colorful annuals in front of the porch to give it a pop of color. Full disclosure: I do not know your wife.
I like it with. But then, the house I gres up in had spirea all around it. (The spirea is still there!)
Without. Smaller, less intrusive plants would be better.

For harmony's sake, if it ever comes up again, on one side the bushes get left, and the other side gets a variety of flowers. That way, each of you would have something and no need of a divorce lawyer.
Actually, I liked them better than without. I feel it give the house a more balanced street view. I lost!
Without, but plant something, low, soft and spreading in its place...and that does not require being a slave to a hedge trimmer or pruning sheers.
Personally I can’t stand the look of boxy stuff in front of a house.
Your picture #1 is a normal street view shoot.
BTW: Forget the picture #2 please, it is a lousy distorted shot of a six year old kid!
Happy picture taking, Dan!
I agree with several above. Replace hedge with shorter flowering plants.
Plant Azaleas. They’re low maintenance, flowing, and produce great color.

I like it better with the railings, but it needs some low shrubs along the bottom.
