When everyone in the parade, other than yourself, is out of step, it's time to reevaluate.
I believe the attack on the Capitol opened a few eyes that were previously tightly closed. I am fervently hoping that we have learned a few lessons about never taking democracy for granted.
It also seems that many under-estimated the power of the internet's echo chambers and under-estimated (or, tragically, dismissed) the hatred and distrust that Trump has so thoroughly exploited and provoked for five years.

Parler is open to any and all who want to post Adolf. I can't wait for the "what goes round comes round" part.

"never taking democracy for granted"
What you saw was PURE democracy in action. And people like you enabled it.
"the hatred and distrust for Trump has so thoroughly exploited and provoked for five years."
I fixed it for ya
Please cite chapter and verse to support this accusation: "the hatred and distrust that Trump has so thoroughly exploited and provoked for five years."
Please as well bear in mind that the news media workers routinely quote the President out of context. So please provide the context for cited material.

You are playing dumb this morning. You certainly don’t expect a response citing “verse and chapter”.
I was incorrect about timing: Trump's exploitation of h**e started earlier, with his leading the charge that Obama was not born in the U.S.
As for citing chapter and verse, the "good" news is Trump tweeted 34,000 times since 2015, so you can do directly the source. The "bad" news is we can't access those tweets right now because of his (good) ban from twitter.
It might surprise you to learn that I would welcome a
healthy Republican Party. Our country needs two parties, but we also very badly need to learn to stop hating the other half.
P.S. I am fully aware that no one in the Attic has his/her beliefs altered by anything anyone else says here. 🙄

Early in Trump's presidency, I openly questioned why the Republicans chose a mentally unhinged narcissistic to be their chosen leader. There are many smart, sane Republican politicians who would have advanced the conservative agenda without being dangerous to our democracy. I was rebuffed and met with rationalizations and excuses for the blind alligence that Trump commanded. It made no sense to me. I am a liberal, but a sane healthy Republican leader would have been totally understandable. i would had have problems with the right-wing agenda, but not in the same way. Trump destroyed the Republican party, and that should not happened in this republic.

You appear to be incapable of nuance or moderation, compromise or thoughtful discussion. Are you familiar with the term binary thinking? right/wrong, yes/no, good/bad...
The real world is far more complex.

But people went willingly! Trump turned out to the be perfect personality for turning dissatisfied citizens into a cult who have no independent thought.
So much is wrong with our country and culture.
