This week's Create 52 Photography Group (Facebook) theme: nature in your backyard.

I live in a large apartment complex that offers many photo ops.

Feedback welcomed!

1. Winter treasures revealed. Slight negative clarity applied in PS Elements raw editor. Other edits include Nik "color contrast" filter.

Yes, another cedar waxwing photo. Resistance is futile! Two textures are included in the edits.

Very nice Linda. I like the whole concept of the first one. Sometimes a title describes what the photographer saw and allows the viewer an insight into your motives. Number 1 is such an image.

The second one speaks for itself. No image of a Cedar Waxwing should go unpublished and you present this one well. Like the background.

I believe Number 3 is the treasure of this set. I like the saturated sky. The The House Finch foraging on a leafless tree just screams winter cold.

I love what you saw in #3 - I hadn't thought of the shot in that way! Many thanks for your detailed impressions and interest, Jack!

My favorite would have to be the second one. Love your choice of texture. Looks like it could be wallpaper. 👏

#3 is my favorite. Blue sky with red berries are nice however the image is a bit dark for my taste. The image just seems a little flat. The dark feathers of the bird seem to get lost with the dark bark areas of those branches. Maybe a little bit more exposure or lighting might make the image come to life. Just a subjective opinion.

Nice work. I particularly liked #2, perhaps because I've never actually seen a cedar waxwing.

Lovely set Linda, I like the last one the best, I like the contrast between the berries and the sky and the birds interaction with the berries...

Quite the set. Your second shot reminds me of something a Japanese artist would have created. And for that if I had to choose it would be number two.

Thanks Jim! Two separate layers, one mostly texture, the other mostly color. Reduced opacity on each.

I still delight in the often unexpected results of pairing two or more textures/overlays

I really like all three, but the Cedar Waxwing is my favorite. I like the texture. Now that I finally have my computer back and running, I want to start learning to do some of these things!

Many thanks for your discerning eye. It looks a bit dark to me too this morning before sunrise I am usually editing in a bright room. I'll do some exploring with the brightness slider and levels adjustment.

Thanks for viewing! I am very fortunate to have a tree beside my apartment balcony that attracts dozens every winter. Unfortunately, they (and robins and other birds) drop bits of fruit onto walkways (there is more than one tree of this type) and we end up tracking red juice into our homes for 2 or 3 months!

Here is my last posting:

I edited #1 for a lighter yellow background and printed 8x10. They make me smile!
