I purchased some Keurig coffee filters recently on eBay. The package arrived at the regional postal distribution center (my name for it) located for my area on Jan 2. The “arrival” tracking entry said “ALERT”: user MID needs to be registered”. No further tracking activity since. Does anyone have a clue what that means? I have sent the seller a message within the eBay message system, but awaiting for a response. I am not optimistic he would know. I do about 90% of my shopping online with most of that on eBay, so I am familiar with most USPS tracking nomenclature. During this Covid-19 and holiday shipping crunch I realize there can be errors on tracking postings, most of which are simply chronological ones. Had one recently that showed the package left the P.O followed some time later by “awaiting for receipt of package from shipper”. That was at the same P.O.

The only retailer in my area that carried the E-Z cup filters was Bed Bath & Beyond. The store closed a month or two ago. I went in the store during the closing sale( 20% off everything) expecting to at least find a few filter packages. WRONG! The store was cleaned out of anything worth while including all types of coffee filters.
They certainly have operational issues. I’m currently waiting for a package from Florida, so far it went to Va. back to Florida, and now it’s been sitting in Alaska for a week!

I have made quite a no of eBay purchases over the years originating in Florida. Packages seem to be slower arriving to my area (Md) even before COVID-19 and holiday rush. Worst state I have experienced in slow transit times is Texas. Seems forever for a package to leave the state. In most cases it was not due to the sellers failure to ship promptly. Just last week I ordered an item from a seller in Ct; next tracking post had the package in a town in Oregon. By some miracle two days later the package was delivered.

Have no idea what "user MID needs to be registered means" but I ordered a product from Walmart on line on Dec. 12, 2020 and just received a notice that it left Phoenix this morning for Yuma. Product was shipped from Kentucky. Almost a full month in transit and if it is delivered on Monday it will be a full month. I know there are problems with CoVid but I think old Ben Franklin could have done better.

The USPS site states:
MU ALERT MID USER NEEDS TO BE REGISTEREDThis is generated when the PIC MID does not exist in PTR’s customer reference data.
Whatever the heck the above means!? But the following might help:
The Mailer Identifier (MID) is a field within the Intelligent Mail barcode that is used to identify mailers. MIDs are assigned by the USPS ® to a Mail Owner, Mailing Agent or other service providers who request them. MIDs are either a 9-digit or a 6-digit numeric code and …It would appear the mailer identifier was not included in the mailer barcode. This problem originating with the sender.

If so, I think it’s a bit strange the package left the seller’s post office in Illinois, then
thru the p.o. in York, Pa. Package arrived on time at the p.o. in Easton, Md where it has remained since 2 Jan. Seller has not responded to my email in which I explained the problem. After a few more days without seller and/or USPS taking action I will let eBay handle it. Thanks for your research effort.
If you can't answer the question SHUT UP
Apparently you haven't attempted to contact the post office lately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
