I am going to purchase a new camera in the near future. Now what I would like is help in choosing between a Canon 90D or Nikon D750. I need the pros and cons of each ans best place to purchase either one.

Thanks,
JimmyMac1953

Do you have any lenses you can use from previous Canon or Nikon cameras. My bias is for the D750.
quixdraw gave you the comparison

These are two different types of digital cameras. It would help to understand what you want to accomplish, what equipment / brand experience you have already, and why these are the two selections?

You might pick the EOS 90D because you want to shoot fast action / wildlife and already have Canon / 3rd party lens that reach to 400mm. The camera is a great option for general photography too, but it features a cropped sensor and relatively high frames-per-second to capture a burst of images of fast-moving action.

You might pick the Nikon D750 because you want a great general purpose full-frame camera fully-capable for any situation. The Nikon has an industry-standard 24MP sensor (less than the 90D) and a lower FPS, but still plenty capable for wildlife / sports. You might pick this camera because you have high-quality Nikon / 3rd party lenses for the Nikon mount, again at 400mm+ if interested in wildlife.

Looks like the 750 is replaced with the D780? Either way on paper the 90d sure looks superior. Out of the whole universe of cameras how did you settle on these two specific choices?

Do you want a cropped sensor or full frame sensor? That would be a factor in your decision.

Rent them to try out. LensRentals.com is very good. I've rented from them a lot.

All you will get is each owner/user prejudices. Google or Youtube would be a place to start. Then it's up to you.

I would like to share with you that I look for your yellow shirt. I highly regard your opinion. There are other guys that are good and I do not want to throw shade on them. However, I look for your good basic, knowledgeable, common sense!

The 90D was released in 2019, the D750 in 2014, so you get the benefit of more recent technology with the 90D. That said, the D750 will be better in low light and may be better in dynamic range. For light-weight, all around great shooting, it is hard to beat the 90D with an 18-135 lens.

You are looking at two very different cameras--one APS-C and one full-frame. Since you look at two different systems I assume that you are not committed to any systems in terms of lenses you already own. Frankly, if you start with a clean slate there is no reason why you should consider a DSLR system. While these are good cameras, their technology is dated, and camera manufacturers have all but stopped investing in this technology. So I would recommend against investing into dated technology.

You should look at mirrorless cameras instead. Camera bodies are smaller, and some of the lenses are too. Their technology is more advanced. Sony has a mature line-up of mirrorless cameras (both APS-C and full-frame), and Canon and Nikon developed some pretty impressive mirrorless cameras as well. I made the switch from Nikon D7100 to Sony A7 III almost three years ago, and the difference in experience and image quality is quite remarkable.

With great responses from my fellow members, I think I will go with the D750. I have owned a few Nikons film and digital so I will stick with whom brought me to this dance.
Thanks Alot,

Ken Rockwells sight (kenrockwell.com) offers a very decent independent review of numerous Nikon /Canon products (lens & bodies). Steve Perry a member here also a well noted independent "guru" maintains his own sight (backcountrygallery.com) & also has tons of data on Nikon.

I am over 70 years old and my Canon was great but the larger lenses were getting heavy for me. I sold all my Canon equipment and bought a SONY RX10 IV and never looked back. 24 to 600mm and the same weight. Someone mentioned YouTube for reviews and I think that is wise but make sure the video is relatively new..Good Luck
