I knew it wouldn't last. I use the Sam's CC for almost everything. In February of every year, I'd go into the store, and they'd give me hundreds of dollars in cash. They changed that last Feb. Now, the rewards are "applied automatically to your Sam's account." It seems that the money must be used for Sam's purchases. I use the Amazon card rewards for purchases on Amazon, and I guess Sam's will work the same way. I'll have to start looking for another card. One thing I like about Sam's is 5% back on gas. Chase used to do that periodically.

COSTCO gives cash. Maybe they will change also?

No, the money doesn't have to be used only for Sam's Club because your Sam's Master card can be used anywhere.
I use American Express only. I stopped dealing with Costco when they dropped A/E and I have no desire to back there.

So the money is put into the CC account? That would be ideal. I'll find out next month.

Yes. That's what should happen. The Master Card is the only account I have with Sam's, and it's also my membership card.
I got cash for mine at Sam's just last week.
One Sam's location said I had to have my husband with me - even though our Sam's membership is in MY NAME! So, a couple of days later I went to another Sam's location and they gave me the CASH. This happened a couple of weeks ago! Perhaps it makes a difference from store-to-store?

I never use my “rewards” for purchases on Amazon or anywhere else. I purchase with the card and use rewards against the card balance periodically. Stores want you to use the rewards because then you don’t get the rewards. Just another way we can work the system even if it’s only 5%. 🤔

Using my Amazon rewards like like paying the balance. I use that money to buy thing's, rather than putting them on the card.

My rewards balance is working its way up from $7.81, so I guess I can expect the rewards to appear in my CC account.
I just did a Chat with Sam's. The money will be loaded into my membership, and it must be spent at Sam's. I have to wait for the February statement for that to happen. Not a good change. I guess some Sam's Clubs are taking longer to adapt.

Reminds me of the old song by Tennessee Ernie Ford, about the company store.
