We awoke to a landscape of pure, white snow.
By 4 PM, most of the snow had melted.

Would appreciate your opinions and suggestions.

Excellent detail! Is this B&W or a cloudy day?

Cloudy day, but I did play with Elements 12.

Thanks for your comment.

I like. For me, what makes the picture, in addition to the "detail" mentioned by UTMike, is the layer of fresh snow contrasted with the dark underside of the big tree limbs. Nice image!

A good study of snow-covered branches. I usually prefer it if I can see a tree's point of contact with the ground, but that would be a different picture and perhaps not in keeping with your intent. But it would have given you the opportunity to include some ground snow.

I had the same results here in NJ. A quick snowfall and hours later much of it was gone. Just a wonderful time to get out and get some shot of the pristine looking landscape. Nice going.

Thanks to all for your comments.

Lens Cap: You deleted some branches from the left, correct? The image gives me the idea of deleting even more to make the "design" of the tree less messy on the bottom. Thanks.
.
R.G.: This tree is not stand-alone. There are a lot of scrubby shrubs around it that I would have had to remove. What caught my eye was the "design" of the outstretched limbs toward the sky. The tree is not actually an attractive specimen.

Very nicely captured with excellent tonal spectral control.

The snow does blend with the background. What I like is the best about this is the composition. The tree, while you can't see the contact with the ground, forms a really nice diagonal composition. I wish we would get some snow. Looks like you had a good time out with your camera. Well done.
