Our Daughter is a third year medical student at the University of Virginia and does research in their labs. They are around Covid cases everyday just as much as the University hospital staff. So today they were all given their first vaccine shot and she posted this picture.

Now this is the same person who as a little child entering Pre-School it took all my strength to hold and carry her to get her shots - she did not react well to words like Doctor, Shot, Vaccine etc. I had a hard time believing a tiny little girl could be that strong. It was to the point I thought she might hurt herself trying to get away. Mom got to do the talking, distracting, petting etc. trying to calm her down while I got to be the one holding her. After each shot session I often had bruises. She really, really, really, really didn't like shots.
And now she is aiming at being a surgeon?????

You should be very proud of your daughter, the work she is doing, and the work she will be doing.

Thanks guys. We are proud of her.
She tried teaching (my career) - end of first week as a day-to-day sub: "How in the name of God did YOU make it 35 years without becoming a mass murderer?"
So she followed Mom (Surgical RN & OR Charge Nurse) into medicine and upped the goal to MD and surgeon.

Anxiously waiting availability here for us old farts. Three of my family members who work in healthcare have their first shots.

I din’t mind waiting for them but the younger DC swamp creatures getting ahead of us really pisses me off.

I saw an article about one place turning away elderly people when they ran out of vaccine. Seems some of them were giving shots to friends and family.

Ask your primary doctor about the availability of a shot for you.

Good for her, Jerry, on all counts. I’m sure you're very proud of her. My hubby received his first shot last week and I hope one will be available to me by may or june.

I have a 3rd year resident grandson. His dad is a doctor too. Dad is taking the shot. Grandson is not taking the shot
