I just ordered a Mitakon Zhongyi 20mm f/2 4.5x Super Macro lens from B&H. They had them on sale for just $150 (maybe because they're no good?) Don't know but am willing to take a chance and to get my macro juices flowing again. If anyone has personal experience with this lens, please share. Thanks.

I also ordered from Amazon an adapter ring that will allow me to attach my Canon 500D to my Tamron macro lens.

Have fun with it! That is a lens for very small subjects. There is perhaps no such thing as a bad lens these days, so of course it is a good lens. Here is a review from Thomas Shahan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GmQ2Hj9WOs. It is highly educational just to watch this guy work!
Looking forward to seeing pictures here from it. I am curious about the bokeh that it can produce.

Thanks for looking in and sharing that Shahan video. It appears the lens is perfectly capable of producing fine images so long as I am able to use it properly.
I've done quite a lot of hand-held stacking but nowhere near the magnification level that Shahan is doing in the video. I do have a SWEBO focus rail that can do as little as 0.01mm movements, might need all of that.

The SWEBO should help. Hand-held at this magnification at minimum requires one to be well braced, and I think the end of the lens in particular should rest on something solid. T. Shahan makes hard things look easy.

I got the adapter ring today to attach the Canon 500D filter to my 90mm macro lens. It only got me from 1X to about 1.3X. I was hoping for more. I can get 2X from using my extension tubes.
