Navy Federal Credit Union ?

Is there anyone here that does online banking and cc transactions with NFCU? I have been a member since 1983 and have managed to successfully operate their online security login procedures up to the present time. No problem viewing checking account or cc transactions, as well as moving funds from one account to another. One of their Visa cc programs is "REWARDS", which accumulate a point for each dollar purchase. Accumulated points are redeemable for products or cash. Cash is redeemable via Rewards Gift cards. The redeemable order process is done within your regular online account. The cards are shipped to the member by First Class mail. Here's the problem I have: you have to activate the card by logging in to a separate online location. First step is to enter the card #, date of expiration, and security code. Did that successfully. Next step was "continue". That produced a login page that did not accept my username. There was no menu to create an account. Thus, I am at a dead end. I will be able to activate the cards by phone, but that is anything but convenient due to long wait times for a live person to help you.
This is not a "help me" post. I am curious if anyone here has had similar experiences. I am very disappointed not being able to make the process work. Never had a problem re the regular cc process.

I've had similar experiences with their Visa "gift" cards. It seems like that service is separate from the banking side and it was frustrating as hell. The good thing for me was that the cards were activated and we used them, but we couldn't get balance information or log in.

On a separate note, I receive my Rewards cash back directly into my account about a month ago. Did they change the process or did you select the Gift card?

My experiences with activating my Visa cards (not from Navy Credit Union) have been using the phone. I call up the 800 number using my phone on record. I enter the last 4 digits of the card, maybe also the last 4 digits of my SSN. That's it. No waiting. All automatic.

Call your Navy Federal Credit Union, there should be a phone number on the back of your Visa card...at least the Delta Community Credit Union does....

I would ask the credit union why the cash reward can't just be applied to your account. I've been with two major banks, and that's the way they do it.

Usually when you activate a CC by phone it is automated, so you don't have to wait for any humans to talk to.

I selected gift cards which I intended to use as gifts, but did not receive until Dec 30. So made other gift arrangements and plan to spend the cards myself. Yes, you can choose either avenue to execute your points.

That is an option but gift cards were what I wanted to use for holiday gifts.

But the NFCU awards cards are managed by a separate online element.

I have been a member since 1973 and would not use another bank. I do have a cash rewards VISA card with them and have never had a problem redeeming awards from the card. I have never tried getting a gift card however. I know that their staff will do their best to help you out. I have never been disappointed in all the years I have dealt with them.

They do allow them to be applied to your account but as a specific payment for two or three purchases. A couple of months ago I ran into this and had to select the purchases I wanted the credit applied to. If there are left over points they go to a savings account.

I left NFCU 30 years ago. I deal only with USAA for banking, insurance, etc. Their web site works like a charm.

I've tried them all. Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union, USAA, FAA Credit Union, etc, etc.
Bank of America (BOA) simply cannot be beat.
I have been a USAA insurance member since 1972 (Auto and Home)
But for all other banking issues - including on-line access, account transfers, Bill-Pay, etc, it's BOA
IMHO BOA currently sets the standard.
