Viewed from the footpath on the bridge above the river, this underwater ice looks like mountains against a blue sky! My boot shown standing on the footbridge above the river. This is a favourite viewing place for me no matter which season it is.

Exciting and scary.

I find these far more interesting than an average warm pastoral scene.

I am standing behind a barrier railing and only my foot could push through. I consider it a very safe location. As a six year old I walked this bridge footpath to school every day for all of my elementary school years, with no adult supervision. Thanks fior your comment.

p2 Yes! Not everything "frozen" is a snow scene - this "frozen" looks delicious. Welcome Wallen and come again.

Thanks.
The thread reminds me of my very first snow years ago...
Not fun time but was a big adventure.
Happy New Year!

Here we are with the first challenge of yet another year. "Frozen" has many interpretations. Not all of us live in a wintry climate but you can still find "frozen". For those in snow areas here are some tips from "Picture Correct Newsletter" for winter photography:

1. Check weather ahead of time. Tell someone where you are going
2. Travel light - don't take all your gear - pick it ahead of time. It gets heavy when hiking, skiing , snowshoeing in the snow.
3.Dress for the weather - and the unexpected weather (DUH!)
4. Keep an eye out for details: icicles, ice covered objects, textures, patterns, frost (great macro opportunity)
5. Pay attention to your camera's exposure. Snow and ice can fool your camera’s exposure meter and are more difficult to expose properly than normal scenes. Light readings from snow will often see the scene as an underexposed image. Most cameras will "read" snow in greytones. (I personally have found fooling with white balance can help make snow look more white than blue)

Got "frozen"?
Here we are with the first challenge of yet anothe... (show quote)
