Hi,

I have a Gossen Luna-Pro F light meter. I used it a lot with my flim camera, and it work well. With my digital camera it's way of. I was doing some test shots last night, with my flash. It was reading four stop off. Would there be a different in the digital light meters?

Thanks Bobby

I have a light meter also, and never notice any difference.

after your question I got out my old Canon AE1 film camera and check out the settings with the built in light meter, and they came out the same as the light meter. They work fine with my digital. Maybe some thing else is wrong..

An incident meter measures light falling UPON the subject, vs reflecting off the subject. SO. it is generally very reliable. It gives you an E.V. reading ( among other things), that is good for all cameras. Try to meter a gray card, w/ the meter using the reflective mode, & then use the camera to view/meter the same card. (same light, no shadows). Remember to fill the viewfinder/frame. See what the cameras meters at, & use exposuse compensation to make the 2 readings the same. Or modify the ISO settings to the same thing. If that doesn't work, Google "mete calibration/repair" & send it out, for a quote.

I always use my luna pro. Make sure that your ISO is the same on your camera and your meter

Could the difference have anything to do with you testing with "flash light"? Does the camera automatically adjust shutter speed if you dial the "flash" position - and - no, there should really be no difference if you are measuring the same spot and/or are using reflected light.
