Merry Christmas my brothers and sisters on Christ

Christmas thoughts I shared with the brothers in my men's Bible study:

Christmas is here.
I have always loved Christmas. The snow, the lights, the Christmas tree, the family gatherings.
And when I was young , my family would always go to the Christmas eve service at our church that was held at 11 at night.
Then we would come home and my parents would go to bed and I would look for the movie, "A Christmas Carol" to watch on tv.
This was way before cable. (we're talking late '50s, early 60's here people) (yes, I am that old) I would fiddle with the antenna and the tv dials and I would usually find it. Often on a Chicago station. (we would sometimes get Chicago tv, especially at night)
And then I would fall asleep watching.
And when I was very young, I loved the presents!
Well, I still do. But now I love giving them more than receiving them. Our grandson Lincoln is 3 now. He understands more about Christmas, about Baby Jesus. about Santa, about Frosty and about presents.
It will be fun to watch him this Christmas, to see the joy and wonder in his eyes, especially when he sees a present for him.
And I still like getting a gift or two, but really, there is not much more I need.
So I guess I like the thought of getting.
The thought that someone cares enough about me that they would get me a gift.
So I am wondering....
God loved us so much that He gave His Son, Jesus, to us.
That precious, nearly impossible to understand, gift of His Son.
He knew what His Son would go through.
But His love for us was so great, He made that sacrifice.
So I am wondering....
Do I like the thought of getting that gift from God?
Do I love that gift?
Do I love that gift so much that I love receiving it?
I do!
Do you?

Today's problem is that far too many people do not realize that God loves them - or even that God even exists. Pushing religion proves nothing. Just before Jesus went to the cross, he gave us one command that would, and did for the first ~ 300 years. That was when religion took over.
Jesus commanded us to love one another - as he loved us - that is how others will know that we have received this gift, and when they ask, can tell them how to receive it for themselves. John 13:34-35.
