I started out this morning well before dawn. (not that early, really, in the winter). I was going to take some sunrise shots on the beach and do some long exposure work. That was the plan. When I got to Asbury Park, the wind was howling and it was really cold. I thought about it for a while; but the beach was just not an option. Cold is bad enough; but blowing sand AND cold was more than I wanted to deal with. So I twisted on the fisheye and decided that I really came to Asbury for the architecture. This was the result.

A good use of a windy day, Erich! Happy New Year!
Nice architecture, Erich.
You were a lot more ambitious than I. I headed out to a rocky point at one of the parks where I usually find some interesting ice, only to realize I still had my baseball hat on. Then the wind caused my eyes to tear up and everything was a bit blurry. Thank goodness for autofocus. Anyway, you came home with some good ones!

Thanks. Cold; but I'm glad I got out nonetheless.

Thanks. It was much colder than I expected. Maybe we're just getting soft after all the warm weather we have had lately?

I like both these very much Erich. The carousel building looks like it would be a great place for a photoshoot if you can find the key holder! I was going to suggest a crop putting the white lines into the bottom corners - then I found your double shadows - magic! The lens effect in the second shot really makes it - would be a candidate for large on the wall for me. Well worth your braving the cold.
Very nice shots Erich! I admire your determination to get to the beach on these cold NJ mornings.

Thank you. Those shadows were a surprise to me as well. I usually try to keep my tripod and body shadows out of the composition. This time, I really did not give it much thought when taking the photo. When I noticed that there were two, from two different streetlamp light sources, I decided that they added rather than detracted. So they stayed in. Glad you liked the photo. As for a photo shoot, I know, from investigation, that the inside of that carousel is pretty plain. The rest of the building is pretty much just an empty hulk at this point. From the outside, there are many interesting compositions including the heating plant that is on the right. There is also a man made lake that starts right at the wall of the heating plant. Might have to do some investigating this winter.
I also liked the way the second shot turned out. I wanted the corner line of the building to be straight and vertical. That is where I spent the bulk of my attention. With a fisheye, I knew that all the other lines would be distorted. The lamp light in the top right also worked to my advantage, I think. Thanks for taking a look and commenting.

I don't really mind the cold that much; but when the wind is howling as well, it becomes a bit much for me. So it was a pretty short photo session and I did not venture too far from the welcome heater in my truck. Thanks for taking a look.

Love them both, Erich. I enjoyed magnetoman's observations and your additional information in your response to him. I hadn't noticed your shadow because I was mesmerized by the colors and forms
Both of these are super-duper results of your great eye and that ultra-cool lens.
