Andromeda (M-31)

I shot this over a 3 week period, its 530 at 200 seconds. I shot this with a QHY12 OSC on my Orion ED80T. I purchased a WO adjustable field flattener, and wasn't able to adjust it enough to fix the stars, so I did manipulate the corner stars quite a bit in PS. I've ordered a new field flattener, so will have to wait to see if it works.

whats amazing about M31 is how large it really is in a wide field exposure. The other 2 DSO's are a nice bonus

Beautiful!
It is nice to see what a different camera can do on an 80 mm.

My Atik Infinicky can't take it all in like your QHY can.

Good to see you are getting some starlight!

WOW! I get 29.4444> hours in this image. Great Work!

Hey Sonny, happy holidays to you and your wife.

Yes the sensor is pretty big, this had a minor crop. I want to try M45, but who knows when the skies will clear.

And Happy Holidays to you two as well!

I guess clear skies are getting to be catch as catch can.
I haven't found an app as good as my eye.
Last week I got going, then PHD2 started blinking and the screen turned white. Clouds.
It was early. Oh well, need a winter home in Chilean Atacama desert. Won't even need a dew strip heater.

Beautiful shot of Andromeda. M32 and M110 also came out well.

Now this is a super M31.Totally love the subtle feel to it.
Which WO flattener didnt work for you?
You can all ways add some thin delrim spacers onto the threads or purchase an adjustable spacer from Altair Astro

I have a skywatcher 8" Newtonian for the infinity camera. I think I have spacing issues. had camera 3 yrs mixed success.

Is it an Astrograph, or a regular Newtonian?

Check out Forrest Tanaka. He uses an Astrograph Newtonian, and he discusses the differences in a visual and the mirror spacing to make it an Astrograph Newtonian.
It has everything to do with being able to acquire focus.

I frogged it forward to get you in the Meat and Potato's of a Newtonian.

When waiting for my stuff to show up 6 years ago, I watched most of his video's. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=forrest+tanaka+astrophotography

Hey Marc, I have the William Optics AFR-IV. It’s meant for a longer FL and I can’t get enough distance between the camera and flattener without running out of inward focus. I’ve ordered the Orion version that is meant for the scope. I hope that works out. I believe Sonny didn’t have any luck with the Orion model.

Thanks Ballard and IreneAC. Sidwalkastronomy, Sonny has a point, many of the newts aren’t setup to handle a camera, not enough inward focus. I have a collapsible newt and I’ve manually shortened the tube and was able to image with it. I also had luck with a DSLR.

The skywarche I have was made for photography @f4i did at the dealers suggestion bought a coma corrector.
At this point I'd be thrilled with the program working and I can find extenders.
